Hurricane Awareness

If It’s Hurricane season, this is just a reminder to follow a few simple rules.
A Hurricane Watch means:                    A Hurricane may threaten.
A Hurricane Warning means:                A Hurricane is expected.
WHAT TO DO:

  1. Pay Attention To News  Broadcasts.
  2. Fill your Vehicle’s gas tank ahead of time.
  3. Bring objects inside that may blow away.
  4. Store valuables and documents in waterproof containers.
  5. Prepare for TORNADOES.  If you see or hear one and if

    1. AT HOME Take cover in the smallest room with concrete walls, or under heavy furniture in the center of the house.
    2. OUTSIDE Seek indoor shelter if time permits.  If not, lie flat in the nearest depression, like a ditch and protect your head with your arms.
  6. Beware of lightning.  Stay indoors and away from electrical equipment.  Don’t use the phone or take a bath or shower during the storm.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER:

  1. Store 1 week supply of Non Perishable Food, Supplies and Medicines.
  2. Turn Refrigerator/Freezer to coldest setting and open door only when necessary.
  3. Store 1 week supply of water in air tight containers.
  4. If power goes out, use flashlights instead of candles or kerosene lamps.
  5. Have a regular phone available as cordless phones will not work without electricity.
  6. Make advance preparations for your Pet(s). If you need to evacuate and cannot find a safe place to keep your pet(s), take them with you.
